LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Identify a minimum of three ASHA guidelines, for Speech Language Pathologists performing endoscopic procedures.
2. Identify a minimum of three contraindications for safety, when performing a Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) procedure.
3. Identify a minimum of two differences between a modified barium swallow, and a Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) procedure. Knowledge of this information is essential when the Speech Language Pathologist is needed to identify, the appropriate procedure, whether fluoroscopy or nasoendoscopy.
4. Participant will conduct normal passes, with the nasoendoscopy scope, safely on live participants. Speech Language Pathologists will gain technical experience and the experience will be utilized with patient anatomy.
5. Identify CPT codes for Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) procedure.
